Is University Place on-campus housing?
University Place offers independent apartment living on the edge of campus with the security that aWVU-managed property provides.

Are there RA’s?
No, there are no RA’s at University Place. University Place is an independent, apartment- style community managed by WVU. We offer the convenience and reliability of an on-campus location combined with an independent lifestyle. University Place offers students the best of both worlds!

Do I have to have a meal plan at University Place?
No. Since University Place is an apartment community, you do not need to have a meal plan. You will definitely enjoy the easy access to the great retail and restaurants on the ground level. If you would like a meal plan, you do have the option to purchase one through WVU.

Are the apartments furnished?
Yes! Every apartment is fully furnished including flat screen TVs, new premium couches, entertainment centers and bedroom furniture. All apartments have been designed specifically for college students. Spend less time moving and more time living!

Can I pick my roommates, or can you match me with a roommate?
You can do either! You are welcome to live with your friends, or we can perform a custom match with roommates. Our roommate matching process allows us to identify matches in personality types, interests and lifestyle towards a compatible living arrangement.

What does individual leases or “by-the-bed” leasing mean?
Each apartment at University Place is leased by the bed, which means that every person in the apartment has his or her own individual room and individual lease. This is great for you, because you don’t have to stress about your roommates paying their rent or bills. No matter what, you are only responsible for your individual rent.

Is University Place open to freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors?
University Place is an apartment student housing facility for undergraduate, graduate, professional, veteran, and international students. Students in their sophomore year (and above) are offered priority leasing for this community. This excludes first time freshmen and first time transfer students with less than 29 credit hours.

What exactly is included in my rent?
At University Place, your lease is inclusive of all utilities (less worries!). Your rent automatically includes, electric, high speed Internet, cable TV, water, all furniture, emergency maintenance and security and convenient access to all of University Place’s exciting retail options!

Do I pay utilities?
Everything you need is included in your rent. Did we mention we have the fastest Internet in town? Our location gives residents access to the on-campus fiber network!

What happens if my roommate doesn’t pay his/her rent?
With individual lease responsibility or “by-the-bed” leases, you don’t have to stress about your roommates paying their rent on time. Your roommate’s failure to pay rent will not affect your credit or cramp your style.

Can I pay my rent with my financial aid? What about a credit card?
Yes, you can pay your rent with your financial aid or scholarships. We accept payments through a variety of convenient ways, including on-site, online, and through WVU Student Accounts. Direct payment and credit card payments are also accepted.
Note: Normal service fees apply if paying by credit card.

Is parking available at University Place?
Parking leases and on-campus vehicle storage options are available through the WVU Parking Office and will be issued on a first come first serve basis to University Place residents. BUT, if you don’t have a car, that’s OK. University Place is conveniently located near the Beechurst PRT station and Mountainline bus stops. Also, we are just a short 5-minute walk to the downtown campus. With on-site grocery and dining facilities, you’ll never have to leave!
